Medication-Assisted Treatment To Reduce Symptoms Fast

We offer a unique integrated medical approach to recovery. At Alternative Behavioral Care we offer a cost-effective and integrated medical approach to healing from substance use. Our patients receive the finest clinical care available in a safe, caring, comfortable environment. Our clients have their initial psychiatric evaluation within the first three sessions and learn new coping skills in intensive psycho-educational group therapy to overcome life’s daily challenges and experience healthier living.

We offer our clients a wide selection of the most advanced treatment methods. These methods include but are not limited to, medication-assisted therapy with the use of Suboxone® or Vivitrol®.

So why is intensive psycho-educational group so effective?

For many people-intensive psycho-educational group therapy can be extremely powerful. These are groups where a trained therapist teaches members specific skills, such as anger management or coping skills, to help work on improving their lives in one way or another.

While each of us is unique and may have unique circumstances, none of us is alone in our struggles. Intensive psycho-educational group therapy reduces isolation and alienation and increases the sense that we’re all working on similar challenges together. Members are encouraged to turn to each other for support, feedback, and connection. In a safe atmosphere, the members share their own experiences and how they’ve navigated or overcome their challenges, and get honest feedback from people who care about them. They notice how they’re feeling throughout the session and learn to open up and to talk about it.

They practice these skills in the group, and as they do, their confidence in practicing them outside the group grows.

In addition to strengthening relationship skills, reducing isolation, and finding their voice, intensive psycho-educational group therapy is especially valuable for individuals dealing with depression, social anxiety, and life transitions. It is often most helpful to attend both intensive group and individual therapy concurrently to further focus and work on developing skills in private discussions with their therapist.

Women and Substance Use

Women’s bodies are different from men in significant ways. Their hormones and reproductive cycle changes can influence their vulnerability to emotional disturbances and affect their life decisions. Recent studies indicate that rates of non-medical prescription drug use are higher among women than men and that women are closing the gap when it comes to alcohol use. Important gender-specific patterns affect women’s substance use treatment and treatment outcomes. We understand the biological mechanisms that underlie women’s susceptibility to substance use and abuse.

We treat women throughout the life stages including pregnancy and post-partum. Our female psychiatrist will assist the pregnant mother in assuring the best outcome for mother and baby after birth. We offer an optional all-female IOP treatment team that consists of psychiatrists and group and individual counselors with focused experience in women’s health. In a supportive environment, we help women gain back their confidence, happiness, and balance in life.

Suboxone® Medication Assisted Treatment Program

Recovery from addiction to pain medications, amphetamines, marijuana, alcohol, heroin, or other substances is difficult. The first step toward recovery is safe and comfortable detoxification that can be done in our comfortable outpatient office. We utilize medications such as Suboxone® (buprenorphine) and Vivitrol® (naltrexone) to relieve the physical, emotional, and mental withdrawal symptoms of substance addiction immediately.

When the cravings and withdrawal symptoms are effectively controlled, relapse prevention therapy can begin. Suboxone® or Vivitrol®, along with a comprehensive treatment program led by our psychiatrists and licensed clinical staff, will allow you to prevent relapse and maintain your sobriety. Many of our patients choose to stay on their medication for 6 months to one year for a smoother step down transition.
